Even with a suppressor most of what you hear is the sonic crack. With a 22LR in a rifle length barrel there is very little heard muzzle blast in the first place. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'd like to know why I'm wrong. I just fugured it would be the same type of deal with the. But use subsonic and it's as quiet as a mouse. 22 rifle it is just as loud as without the suppressor. Well, I know that when I shoot high velocity ammo in my suppressed CZ. Just shoot the damn thing and you will be fine. Why is it that when people get cans they immediately think that they need subsonic ammo? You wont find a subsonic round that is going to cycle the action of an AR unless you go to a 300 whisper or something of that nature. Others, as we know, take there whole family and/or friends to each buy a limit so he can sell them. He points out how one guy brags in forums online that he buys his max and then goes to his truck puts on a jacket, a hat and sunglasses and goes back in and buys another limit. His theory aligns with mine in that many of these guys are unemployed and have the time to dedicate to finding ammo and they are making a living reselling. He also goes into the reasons for the shortage being resellers that buy up all the ammo and resell it for up to $100 a brick for bulk ammo just like we have all seen. Not quite as good as many of our top loads with 22 LR but plenty good for plinking or hunting. If you want subsonic he loaded the 42 gr Calhoun HP Bullet over 4.0 grains of Blue Dot and got 1,113 fps and the groups averaged. The most accurate load listed is the Speer 40 grain Spire SP with 16.0 grains of IMR 4895 with Rem 7 1/2 Small Rifle BR Primers at 1,586 FPS His accuracy 50 yards range from a HIGH of 1.01" to a very decent. The velocities range from 1,113 fps to 1,814 fps with the 223 rem from a Mods 700. His loads use IMR 4895, Blue Dot and Trail Boss. He loads the 40 grain Speer, 42 grain Calhoun 45 gr rem Round nose and a 22 cal cast bullet from Lyman. 243 and the other by John Barness (for me he is the best handloading author in these times) directly about the rimfire shortage and how to load your center fires in 22 Hornet and. This month's issue of Handloader has two articles about reduced loads. 300BLK was created, no?Įdit to add: Hodgdon now links to their reduced power data right on their home page. Of course, difficulty getting acceptable performance out of subsonic. Having said that, I did not find such reduced loads to be very accurate. Average velocity was 1153fps from a 16" barrel. The PDF explains how to do this.Īccording to my reloading log, I used 69gr bullets to achieve it in a rifle with a 1:8 twist and last loaded it in 1997. However, since few manuals include Trail Boss in their recipes, you have to measure its maximum volume in your case and use the 70% rule against that measurement. You can perform a similar search to find the same for Trail Boss. They essentially use the 60% of their published maximum rule for that powder. Google "H4895 reduced rifle load" to find a PDF from Hodgdon explaining how to do it. I do not publish specific recipes on the intertubez, but it can be done with 4895 and Trail Boss, and I have done it with the former.
